Outlining the firm’s overall mission, Lisa mentions how Ubuntu look to be an inspiration to the younger generation, giving advice and helping them develop their skills and fulfil their potential. “Our mission is to inspire leaders and managers to empower their people to be the best that they can be, by providing concise, professional and solution-focused support and advice.” Lisa then goes on to explain her past experiences and detail how she came to become MD of Ubuntu, before telling us about how the HR profession has changed since she first started. Despite women outnumbering men in the industry, men have held senior roles but Lisa notes that this is starting to change. “Having started out as Residential Social Worker, I embarked on a career in HR. I started my own Consultancy business in 2005 and in 2011 incorporated the business into Ubuntu HR Ltd – growing the business to now working with 60 clients. “HR has always been a predominantly female industry and although we outnumber the amount of men in the profession, men have held the more senior roles – this has begun to shift in the last 10 years and there are now more females in roles of influence across the industry.” Ulitmately, Lisa must ensure that all her staff work together to achieve the mission and reach the same goals. As a leader, Lisa is always FCE17007 looking to inspire her people, and help create a profitable business, whilst being compliant with the law. With a solid foundation to build on, the future looks bright for Ubuntu with Lisa at the top. “My style is one of inspiring and facilitating.
