28 CEO MONTHLY / GLOBAL CEO EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2019 , May19551 Now at the hands of the sixth generation of the Cosulich family, CEO Timothy, Fratelli Cosulich is an internationally renowned shipping company. We invited Timothy to provide us with an overview into the firm and how he is working to drive it to even greater success now he has taken the helm. Best Maritime CEO 2019 - Asia Pacific Since its inception more than 160 years ago, Fratelli Cosulich has been active across the shipping space, working in areas including fuel trading, physical supply, ship agency, freight forwarding, manning, catering, ship-owning, and yacht services. Over the years this level of diversification has allowed the firm to grow and maintain its profitability during different market cycles. Such an extensive service offering would be impossible without expert staff, including Timothy, who as a leader works hard to ensure that every project is completed to the highest possible standard, as he is proud to highlight. “As a service-oriented firm, the key for Fratelli Cosulich has always been people. When we start a new project we always make sure we have the right people for it to be successful. It took us more than 160 years to build our reputation and we need to preserve it and continue to provide our clients with outstanding service.” Such an approach has been created through Timothy’s extensive experience outside of the firm, before he moved to join it to preserve its longstanding heritage. He provides us with an overview of his own extensive industry experience and how this has driven him to become the exemplary leader he is today. “Personally, I started my career as a Strategy Consultant at PwC, first in London and then in Madrid. I then got my MBA from INSEAD and, upon graduation, I joined the AP Moller Maersk Group as the General Manager for New Terminals. Both PwC and Maersk were fantastic companies to work for: I learnt a great deal and was continuously challenged to perform at my best. “In 2010 I was asked to join my family business and a few years later I took over the CEO role. While joining the family business was not initially my plan, having spent more than 10 years outside of Fratelli Cosulich allowed me to learn and develop my own career and to bring learnings and best practices to my current role.” Looking to the future, Fratelli Cosulich’s ongoing focus will remain on people, with an eye at re-shaping the firm’s business model in order to continue to add value to its valued customers. Timothy concludes by exploring why such change is of vital importance to securing the future not only for his company, but for the wider shipping market. “Throughout history, Shipping has been one of the most resilient industry in terms of resistance to change. Not much has changed in the last 20 years, but I am sure this will soon change as clients embrace changes such as digitalisation and globalisation. As such, Fratelli Cosulich needs to be a driving force behind this change and, at the same time, we need to implement an agile mindset in order to adapt to unexpected changes. This will remain our core focus as we look towards a bright future filled with new opportunities to support our clients and provide them with new, innovative solutions.” Company: Fratelli Cosulich Name: Timothy Cosulich Address: 79 Anson Road, Unit 13-05 Web Address: www.cosulich.it Timothy Cosulich, Fratelli Cosulich
