Since 2009, the firm has grown from sixty five staff members, to over three hundred and fifty. In that time, Babington has supported more than four thousand employers with their Learning strategies, supporting more than fifty thousand learners to achieve a qualification and progress their careers in ways they perhaps never thought possible. Babington is responsible for building careers, developing workforces, and helping everyone to see the bigger picture. At the centre of it all, is relatively new CEO, Mr David Marsh. David joined the team at Babington having previously plied his trade as Managing Director of Knowledgepool, a training division at Capita Plc, where he successfully brought together five separate business areas under the single banner of Knowledgepool. Bringing together managed learning, training delivery, and the apprenticeship and pre- employment businesses amongst others is no small feat, but one that David has accomplished thanks to his outstanding business acumen and brilliant leadership qualities. Prior to his work at Education, training, and learning are vital parts of everybody’s life and the future of theEconomy. Whether or not people realise it, every single thing is a learning experience. Babington has the purpose of developing better futures by being globally recognised as a valued and trusted partner, unlocking potential through a bold passion for learning. Fulfilling that purpose is no small feat, and requires a dedicated leaderwho shares the company vision. InOctober 2018, Mr DavidMarsh became that leader for Babington. Today, we examine his work over the last two years, and highlight just how successful he has been. In October 2018, David was announced to be the new CEO of Babington, bringing his extensive experience in the education and training sector to this exciting role. Since then, he has strengthened the focus and strategy of the company driving it to grow, despite taking over in what has been widely reported to be a volatile and difficult time for the sector. Nevertheless, David has continued to ensure that Babington is able to support people at all stages of their careers to progress further. Whether it is simply getting on the first rung of the ladder or advancing into a senior management position, Babington is on hand to help with its comprehensive approach to working with employers and those seeking employment. This comprehensive approach takes a number of different forms, including traineeships, employability training, apprenticeships, professional courses, and bespoke employer training. Each offering is designed and contextualised specifically for a type of employer or jobseeker. For instance, traineeships are designed to help young people aged between 16 and 24 develop the skills needed to succeed in the workplace, whereas bespoke training is more for employers needing to meet their training needs, whether it’s recruiting new apprentices or developing current members of staff. All of these areas are seen as critical to the future UK economy as outlined by the Chancellor recently. Whatever the offering, both Babington and David believe that doing things the right way, focused on customer experience is critical to developing the culture and behaviours that will enable the firm to meet its vision and deliver on its purpose. As a leader, David is keen to display the culture and behaviours that he believes are at the centre of Babington, including being brave, caring, curious, determined, passionate, and trusted. Having already seen the business through what can be considered some really difficult times, David is no doubt the best person to lead Babington into a period of even greater success by creating and sustaining a culture where everyone can learn and succeed for themselves.
