CEO MONTHLY / C-SUITE AWARDS 2024 19 LegalTech CIO of the Year 2024 (GCC): Tejas Gajjar Tejas Gajjar carries out his duties as Chief Information Officer of Meysan, an ambitious and pioneering international law firm boasting legal professionals from across the UK and the Middle East, atop of more than 25 years of experience in the field of IT for companies across the APAC and Middle East regions. Since joining the business in 2018, Tejas’ dedication to his craft has been impeccable, and he has created and delivered a number of services to improve the business’ overall IT operation significantly. We speak with Tejas to find out more. From general IT services through to the development of cloud platforms and robust cybersecurity measures, CIO Tejas Gajjar is a proven technology leader with a wealth of expertise and a strategic vision for all things related to information technology. Working closely with Meysan’s internal stakeholders, Tejas has the dual responsibility of looking after internal clients and managing IT, highlighting the level of faith the business has in him and his abilities. One of the mottos that Tejas lives by is, “less manual and more automation”, something that he feels rings true across almost all areas of the business, be it a security or deployment process. On the back of this, Tejas is the man responsible for Meysan having invested in a number of beneficial technologies over the past five years or so, with his unbreakable focus being on leveraging those cutting-edge advancements that will benefit his organisation immeasurably in the long run. Even as a student, Tejas was a passionate and dedicated individual who showed great promise and was destined for success. Initially completing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, it was not long before Tejas found his calling in the realm of IT, resulting in him pursuing skills relating to networking, servers, and implementing technologies. Across this journey, Tejas successfully attained a number of certifications, becoming a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) and a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Tejas would join Singel Optus after getting his start in HP, and as he explains, “at times we were looking after many projects, such as data centre relocation and international communications channels, as well as managing internal clients, of which we had about 50,000 internal users.” Such experiences proved incredibly useful, but it was Tejas’ move to Kuwait and contract with an UHNWI that opened up new and exciting areas for him, from automation through to how IT works on yachts and private jets. The next stop of this journey would be Tejas’ current role at Meysan, where he has continued to be challenged and exceed the expectations of his superiors, colleagues, and internal stakeholders at every turn. Tejas tells us that he had one specific goal in mind when he started, this being to empower his users to access anything from anywhere. This was implemented seamlessly in just a few short years, all without ever causing any disruption to the rest of the business or its systems, a testament to the skill of Tejas and the team. With Meysan operating in five Middle Eastern countries and the UK, Tejas has a mammoth task when it comes to managing the IT operations of the internal clients with which he works. To overcome this, Tejas and his team have in place a centralised call management system that brings together all reported IT issues and then routes them to the right location for maximum efficiency. Expanding on this, Tejas states, “technology is implemented in such a way that IT can connect to laptops remotely without us needing to install any additional software.” Tejas refines his skills on an ongoing basis by engaging with employees across the firm, staying in the loop with management to better understand the business’ needs and the ways he can improve the situation through IT. This endeavour is aided by his staying updated on all of the newest trends across the industry, both through research and meeting with his peers. When he is not learning, Tejas can be found hosting informal team meetings, events defined by his stellar approach to leadership, which is, “to keep everyone informed and involved.” In closing, Tejas leaves his fellow IT managers and legaltech professionals with a useful piece of advice, “look at what you can do to help your customers reduce their manual work, have the integrations implemented correctly, invest in products which can help in reducing internal or external attacks, and make your team work smart! Put your trust in your people.” Contact Details Contact: Tejas Gajjar Company: Meysan Web Address: https://www.meysan.com/ Apr24114
