Last year, the company welcomed JB Barry and Partners to Egis Ireland, bringing its team to a total of almost 600 people across 16 offices nationwide. At the helm of these operations is CEO Steve Preece, a natural leader and motivator whose career started in the auto engineering sector where he initially joined Rolls Royce Motors as an engineering graduate. He later went on to work in aeronautics and aviation. UK-born, Steve first moved to Ireland to undertake the development of Aviance (formerly known as BMI) in Dublin Airport on behalf of the Go-Ahead Group. Following a successful five years bringing Aviance Dublin Airport to become the best-performing station within the Group, Steve sought a different challenge in transport. He then joined Transroute Tunnel Operations (which would later become Egis in Ireland) operating Ireland’s largest infrastructure project, Dublin Port Tunnel. There, he took on various management roles before being asked to take over the company’s Irish operations at a more senior level. Since then, he has taken the business from between €10 million and €15 million to €100 million in annual turnover.
