In this position, Mara gained her first experience in leadership, overseeing a team of journalists and editing their articles. “When I was approached at 29 years old to take on the position of CEO for the Real Estate Award AG, I instantly knew that it would become the perfect opportunity for me to grow and build my skills even more,” she recalls. “Having a background in communication and events, as well as a huge interest in the real estate world, I didn’t even hesitate and excitedly took the job. This was in April 2023, and I must say – it was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made.” Since taking on the role, Mara has completely rebuilt the company’s strategy and shifted its focus to long-term goals. The team has assessed and enhanced the awards programme to match these long-term goals, steered by Mara’s industry expertise. For example, the company strives to make sustainability more visible, and has created the Sustainability category for its awards in response.
