In this exclusive interview, we learn more from Founder and Managing Director, Will Glynn-Jones, on his journey to success.

Can you tell us about how you started Send Me a Sample?

The company was founded in 2018 and we took a bold leap into the digital sampling sector with an innovative approach to disrupt the market. In 2020 the company skyrocketed with the boom in e-commerce and online product discovery – with so many people browsing and ordering online.

Our rapid growth was fuelled by a simple yet compelling promise: providing brands with a fast, measurable, and highly targeted way to engage with consumers.

Can you explain traditional sampling vs digital sampling?  

For decades, traditional sampling methods have been manual, untargeted, and challenging to measure. Often involving the distribution of free product samples in a public space offering a limited, localised reach. It’s a scattergun approach with no means of tracking consumer behaviour or fostering ongoing relationships.

This adds little value for the brand or the consumer and the lack of personalisation lags in comparison to the era of ecommerce and instant gratification that we now find ourselves in.

As the demand for data-driven marketing solutions grows, we are leading the way at Send Me a Sample, providing brands with an attractive alternative. Send Me a Sample has brought the experience of sampling up to speed, going way beyond product trial by also driving first-party data and aligning with the accountability brands demand. With 52% of our business coming from satisfied, repeat customers, our results speak for themselves.

We enable brands to reach highly targeted audiences, drive product trials, and achieve measurable results leveraging platforms such as Meta, and TikTok as well as using mobile QR codes and chatbots.

We remain the only digital sampling platform to integrate with Amazon Alexa, offering a unique and convenient voice-activated sampling service. 

This approach allows consumers to trial products in the comfort of their own homes, while providing brands with rich, actionable first-party data to build deeper and more meaningful customer relationships.

How much is the industry worth?

With brands collectively spending over $10 billion annually, in an attempt to gain more customers who can ‘try before they buy’, we aim to simplify and streamline the process, keeping costs lean.

My role is to drive new opportunities with clients, communicating with shareholders and stakeholders, whilst charting the course for future growth. Looking ahead, we plan to expand our reach even further, introducing our technologies to 61 additional markets in the next 12 to 24 months.
