Inspired by the transformative use of hip-hop in the drug cartels of Colombia, Ruth believes art has a capacity to make change in the toughest of contexts. For 23 years she has pioneered the use of arts to make social change. She is CEO & Artistic Director of In Place of War, a global arts organisation using creativity to conquer conflict, enabling grassroots change-makers in music, theatre and across the arts to transform cultures of violence and suffering into hope, opportunity and freedom.
